The story of the Blues is in many ways the story of America. The Colorado Blues Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a greater awareness and wider appreciation of the American indigenous art form, the Blues.

Take a few minutes for an overview of the program we are inviting your school to experience. Our organization provides these educational programs to Colorado schools at no charge.

Our Blues in the Schools program, as the name suggests, takes the Blues into our schools relating the music to the school’s curriculum in ways that make a difference in how students learn. We can tailor presentations to the needs of the school in topics such as social studies, history, language arts, geography, math, and of course — music. The objective of these presentations is to educate our students about the native art form of Blues-related music by providing informative and interactive performances.

The presentations are as varied as the music itself but generally incorporate student participation and involvement. We have several musicians who work with us in our program. As more musicians develop their programs, we are able to offer additional choices. Please discuss options with us.

The curriculum will have a Blues focus and can be adapted to fit student, school and teacher needs. Our mission is to let young folks know the importance of this American art form and how it has influenced other styles of music, right up to the present.
